Background

Gamuda Australia is the national arm of global engineering, property and infrastructure company Gamuda Berhad. Gamuda has a proven track record of delivering world-class projects in many markets around the globe and the company’s significant growth into Australia will see the delivery of major tunnelling works in Sydney, civil works in Newcastle and tunnelling projects in Coffs Harbour. 

The Issue

After many internal discussions, the Gamuda Engineering team in Australia decided that a respiratory protection program needed to be developed due to the exposure of silica dust on their tunnelling projects. 

The Solution

Industree Group has previously assisted Gamuda Australia with quantitative fit testing of the TRIDENT® P2 respirators across numerous sites in Sydney, including attending weekly onboarding sessions to fit test new starters. 

As a preferred safety partner, Gamuda engaged Industree Group to assist with developing a respiratory protection program specifically to meet their client's needs.

 Quantitative Fit Test results on the TRIDENT® P2 respirators have achieved over 99% pass rates, and due to the many sizes available, feedback on the comfort of the masks has been extremely positive. At Gamuda, the health and safety of our people is paramount, and therefore it’s important we offer market leading protective equipment.

Assisting Gamuda with fit testing the TRIDENT® P2 respirators has ensured that employees are safe while working in conditions exposed to silica, asbestos, and dust. 

As part of the respiratory protection program, certificates are provided to the safety team for every Gamuda employee who has been fit tested. It’s just one of the many ways, Gamuda is ensuring the health and well-being of its people and Industree Group have played a significant part.
