A correctly fitting respirator is essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals who work in environments where airborne hazards exist.
Respirators are designed to protect the wearer from inhaling harmful substances such as dust, fumes, vapours, and gases that can cause respiratory problems and other health issues.

Step 1
Position the respirator in the palm of your hand with the nose strip at your fingertips, ensuring both head straps are untwisted over the back of your hand.

With both hands, mould the foam nose seal at the top of the mask to the nose bridge and cheeks ensuring a secure fit and seal.
Step 6
Perform a fit check (see fit check list below). Cover the front of the respirator with both hands. Inhale and exhale sharply.

A P1 disposable respirator will filter mechanically generated particles (for example, grinding, cutting, sanding and drilling). A P2 disposable respirator will protect against mechanically and thermally generated particles (for example, welding fumes, fertiliser and bushfire smoke).
It is essential to ensure the mask is correctly fitted to achieve the best results, this can be done by having your respirator fit tested by an accredited fit tester.
Fit testing can be performed on-site with specialised PortaCount testing equipment by our own RESP-FIT accredited fit testers or by one of our preferred fit test partners.

A valved mask is typically used in the Industrial space and will provide less breathing resistance when exhaling and also reduces heat and moisture build-up inside the mask. Note that a valved mask only filters particles going into the mask and not the air leaving. An unvalved mask will filter particles entering and exiting the respirator. The unvalved RTCFFP2 TRIDENT® product comes with a level three fluid rating (160 mmHg), making the RTCFFP2 TRIDENT® P2 unvalved mask a preferred option in the health industry.
